Parley for the Oceans
Commissioned by Adidas for NBA All-Star Weekend, this immersive public engagement initiative translated marine science and ocean conservation into an interactive experience for thousands of visitors.
Developed in collaboration with coral biologist Colin Foord, musician J.D. McKay, and Parley for the Oceans, the project combined large-scale visual installations, scientific storytelling, and environmental education to raise awareness about the health of marine ecosystems and the growing threat of ocean pollution.
The experience featured a kaleidoscopic tunnel of macro coral imagery alongside a 40-foot shipping container screening oceanographic footage from whale research expeditions. Complementing the installation, visitors engaged with hands-on educational stations showcasing ocean plastic samples, emerging conservation technologies, and practical actions individuals could take to support ocean health.
By combining science, design, and public participation, the project demonstrated how immersive experiences can make complex environmental issues more accessible and inspire broader engagement with conservation efforts.
